How myBuddy Came to Be
For years, home robotics promised to change everyday life. But the robots that families and elderly people actually needed never quite arrived. The technology kept advancing; the products kept missing the point. What was needed was not a smarter vacuum or a novelty voice assistant. It was a robot that could confirm a medication had been taken, provide a safety net for someone living alone, and serve as a single assistant the whole family could genuinely use, without a computer science degree required. The gap was not a lack of technology. It was a lack of focus on real, everyday human needs.
Ali and Dan, both working and studying at TUM's School of Engineering and Design, saw this fragmentation up close. Powerful AI models lived entirely in the cloud. Smart-home devices refused to talk to each other. Care solutions felt clinical rather than companionable. INFINY Robotics was founded to close that gap: to build a robot that sees, reasons, remembers, and acts, and that earns a place in the home as a trusted family helper rather than a gadget. Not a research prototype. Not a device aimed at institutions. A robot built around the people who need it most.
Academic Roots & Public Backing

INFINY Robotics is a spinoff of the Technical University of Munich (TUM), School of Engineering and Design, one of Europe's leading technical universities. The founding team's research background directly informs myBuddy's architecture: from ROS 2 navigation and NVIDIA Jetson edge deployment to Vision-Language-Action models and long-term contextual memory. TUM's engineering rigour is not a badge. It is baked into the product.
INFINY Robotics is currently pursuing the EXIST Gründerstipendium, a German federal funding programme for deep-tech university spinoffs administered by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action. Selection for EXIST support signals that the project has passed independent evaluation by technical and commercial reviewers. It is not venture funding. It is public backing that lets the team focus on building the right product before scaling.

Most home robots today are either research prototypes that never leave the lab, cloud-dependent devices that trade privacy for convenience, or expensive systems aimed at institutions rather than households. INFINY Robotics was founded on a different premise: that the families and older adults who need a capable, trustworthy home assistant the most should not have to compromise between affordability, privacy, and genuine usefulness.
myBuddy is built around the principle of flexible compute: giving every family the choice of how much AI runs on their own device versus in the cloud, and pricing the hardware so the most private option is also among the most affordable. The myDay platform connects calendars, care routines, smart-home devices, and conversational AI into one interface, one robot that grows with the family rather than becoming obsolete. This is not a vision for ten years from now. It is what INFINY Robotics is building today, at TUM, with EXIST support.
